Background:

I started as a sophomore Schreyer Honors Scholar majoring in Chemical Engineering. I joined CurtisLab in the Fall of 2015 as a member of the plant propagation team. I was born and raised in Scranton, Pennsylvania (Home of The Office). At Penn State, I am a member of the American Institute of Chemical Engineers as well as a Crew Leader for The Mix at Pollock Commons. In my (limited) free time, I particularly enjoy any outdoor activity (especially if it involves water), and I am an intermediate level billiards player.

Projects:

Thesis Project: I am working toward kickstarting a project on the expression of cyanovirin-1, an anti-HIV protein, in cyanobacteria

Papers / Presentations:

Ryan Jones, Bennett McKinley, an (NCSU student who collaborated in summer research through Penn' State's NSF Research Experience for Undergraduates (REU), Expression and Purification of Plant Embryogenic Proteins, 2016 AIChE National Meeting, San Francisco.

Awards: Revieved first place for poster at AICHE National meeting.
