Background:
I just started as a freshman at Penn State within the Schreyer Honors College this fall and simply could not pass up the incredible opportunity to become a member of CurtisLab. Over the last few months, I have gotten trained and accustomed to lab practices to the point where I am mainly focused on collecting bomb calorimetry data for the Wastewater Treatment Project.
I am still getting a feel for all of the incredible options chemical engineering has to offer, but I am definitely interested in its many practical applications, from algae biofuels to genetically modifying organisms to be less susceptible to disease.
