Background

I hold a PhD degree in Genetic Engineering from SRM Institute of Science and Technology, Tamil Nadu, India. I was awarded with INSPIRE (Innovation in Science Pursuit for Inspired Research) Fellowship from Department of Science and Technology, Govt. of India, for pursuing PhD in the field of Life Sciences. My PhD thesis involved ‘Metabolic Engineering of industrial strain of Clostridium acetobutylicum for enhanced butanol synthesis’. With an interest to learn plant genetic engineering I joined Curtis Lab as a Postdoctoral Scholar in January 2019 and I am currently involved in various projects that include developing insecticidal transgenic plants (crop protection) and Brachypodium engineering via somatic embryogenesis (plant propagation).

Research Interests

    • Engineering Biofuel crops to create regeneration lines.

    • Metabolic Engineering of industrially important bacterial strains (biofuels and other valuable metabolites).
