Background I am a graduate student in Dr.Curtis group (since March 2012). I finished my B.S. in Chemical Engineering (ChE) from Tianjin University, Tianjin, China in 2008 and M.S. in ChE from University of South Carolina in Columbia, SC in 2010. Projects: My project focus on developing a model based process control system for high density algae culture. This includes studying of algae behavior, control system programming, reactor design and sensor design. Currently, most of my efforts are spent on pH control issues. We are building a stoichiometric balanced feeding strategy that could stabilize algae culture’s pH by simultaneously varying the feeding nutrients, which is evaluated based on our stoichiometric growth model and online sensor reading.
